On Saturday evening from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM, the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport will present Those Fiery Irish Pirates, the first of their monthly adult programs for 2018. You may know that if it had not been for pirates, there might never have been a St. Patrick. However, this program will focus on Grace O’Malley, Queen of the Pirates. You will create a pirate garden flag and enjoy refreshments with the other participants. The fee will be $25 for non-members and $12.50 for volunteers and members of Friends of the Museum. Call 910-744-5151 to register.
Do you want to take your best friend out for the day? Are you looking for a best friend? I recommend heading for Leland on Saturday morning. There, both you and your dog (on a leash) will enjoy Bark in the Park with all the other dogs and their owners from 10 AM until 1 PM. There will be adoptable dogs there from the Brunswick County’s Sheriff’s Office Animal Protective Service as well. You are welcome to bring dog food to donate to local shelters. Head on out and enjoy this social day together.
If you are thinking about getting some new clothes for spring, you can get a look at spring fashions at the Hats off to Leland Fashion Show at the Leland Cultural Arts Center on Saturday. The show will run from 11:30 AM until 2:30 PM and will include lunch and music by Sylvia Ritchie and Class Act. The fashions will be provided by Island Breeze and the food by Art Catering. The center is located at 1212 Magnolia Village Way. Reservations are required for a fee of $40. Contact Connie Reeves (Azaleaplaz@aol.com) or Doris Young (email@example.com).
