PIRATES, DOGS AND DESIGNS

On Saturday evening from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM, the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport will present Those Fiery Irish Pirates, the first of their monthly adult programs for 2018. You may know that if it had not been for pirates, there might never have been a St. Patrick. However, this program will focus on Grace O’Malley, Queen of the Pirates. You will create a pirate garden flag and enjoy refreshments with the other participants. The fee will be $25 for non-members and $12.50 for volunteers and members of Friends of the Museum. Call 910-744-5151 to register.

Do you want to take your best friend out for the day? Are you looking for a best friend? I recommend heading for Leland on Saturday morning. There, both you and your dog (on a leash) will enjoy Bark in the Park with all the other dogs and their owners from 10 AM until 1 PM. There will be adoptable dogs there from the Brunswick County’s Sheriff’s Office Animal Protective Service as well. You are welcome to bring dog food to donate to local shelters. Head on out and enjoy this social day together.

Memorial Day

The Memorial Day weekend is coming up and we will see flags flying everywhere as reminders of those who have made it possible for us to be able to live free in this beautiful country. Many have sacrificed for us and for their own families and I believe they deserve to be remembered, acknowledged and celebrated. I believe they would want us to enjoy our freedoms this weekend as well. To spend time with friends and family in all the ways they have made possible for us. We who live in Brunswick County, NC are especially lucky to have access to many ways to celebrate – not the least of which is the ocean and the beaches. These provide enjoyment in boating, swimming, sunning, fishing, surfing and much more. Here are a few other ideas:
