Christmas 2017 has come and gone. I am hoping everyone will carry their Christmas spirit throughout the coming year. You will find that Brunswick County, NC folks are some of the friendliest, kindest folks you can ever want to meet no matter what time of year it is. And, maybe you, like me, noticed an uptick of that caring attitude over the holiday season. The small day to day courtesies are wonderful to witness and experience. However, times are difficult for many of us, so if you are wondering how you might help on a regular basis, or, if you are looking for something meaningful to do with extra time on your hands, I would like to suggest that you look into volunteering. There are so many areas of need that you can surely find an area that interests you. You might even turn you hobbies into ways to help others. You will definitely find your life more enjoyable and fulfilling. Many people see Easter as a new beginning and some people also see Spring as a new beginning. Anytime is a great time to begin anew, but these events seem to give impetus to us when we need a little nudge. The new life around us stirs our inner being. We look for things to fill us beyond the beauty around us. In Brunswick County, NC we are blessed with beauty and we celebrate it in so many ways. One way we can celebrate it is to be a part of it and to help in giving it to others. Volunteering is a giving of self and a receiving of so much at the same time.
