The Arts…..Part 3

The Sea Notes Choral Society Spring Concert is here! This group is a nonprofit volunteer organization that had its origins in 1974 in Southport, NC. The group rehearses every Monday evening at 7 PM in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Southport. Their concerts are free to the public and include a large variety of music. Some of the works they have performed include: the  Bach Magnificat, Mozart’s Mass in C, Faure’s Requiem, the Vivaldi Gloria, Dubois’ Seven Last Words of Christ, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols with Harp, and the complete Messiah with professional orchestra. In addition they perform  gospel, folk, pop and Broadway selections, Gilbert and Sullivan, and Christmas octavos as well as patriotic programs during the NC Fourth of July Festival in Southport. The Brunswick Concert Band sometimes performs with the choral society and the society has collaborated with Brunswick Little Theatre productions including Fiddler on the Roof.

The group is made up of 100 plus volunteer music lovers, has a new director every season and performs three primary concerts annually — in the spring, during the Fourth of July Festival and at Christmas. Their Spring Concert – “The Best of the Best” – will include Grammys, Tonys and Number 1 Hit songs and will feature guest violinist, Beverly Andrews. No reservations are required. Just take yourself to Hatch Auditorium in the NC Baptist Assembly in Caswell Beach, NC for one of the three performances: Thursday, March 27 or Friday, March 28 at 7:30 PM – or Sunday, March 30 at 3 PM. And please give a generous donation to help pay for the wonderful music they perform.
